Change for improvement

Ideas and theories about change are some of the most disputed in education. There is little consensus on how to manage change and, in particular, about how to sustain improvements achieved as a result of change. This chapter presents a broad overview of current thinking about change for improvement and discusses different levels of change, what drives change, and the importance of a theory of improvement to change.
